BINHI

BINHI is a beautiful initiative of a group of enthusiastic local artists. They once started at the back of a church in the overpopulated urban slum Banago. Every Saturday Edmund and friends managed to raise interest for art of the local kids. Soon a determined group of kids attended his drawing and sculpting classes every Saturday. Edmund and friends were aiming to keep the local youth occupied instead of hanging on the streets, but they also wanted to teach art as a way of expressing one's feelings.

BINHI has grown a lot since they started. Binhi is now a legal entity in the Philippines and now they are able to raise funds to continue and extend their activities in the community. This organisation is very open to local and foreign visitors. Their art is for sale and they hold exhibitions in Bacolod throughout the year.

Anak is a very big fan of Binhi and tries to support talented Binhi kids through a scholarship. At the moment a few Binhi kids are part of Anak's scholarship programme.
