Before the age of 15, I was just an innocent little girl with many dreams for the future. I understand the greater picture... I am in life where I am supposed to be....
I grew up without my father, but the unconditional love and support of my mother has seen me through the challenges that I encountered.
The difficult situations that I dealt with I made peace with it, as it made me stronger and I learnt a lot about who I really am. During this period in my life, my mother was working as a sweeper for the city of Bacolod. Our income was not much but sufficient for our family. Unfortunately my mother lost her job in 1998 and we were facing a hard time. I was in third year high school and had no choice than to work. I was lucky to find a job as a laundry woman and during the evenings I studied. I managed to graduate and during my graduation I was honoured because of my persistence, this made me really proud of myself.
Unfortunately there was not sufficient income to send me to college. Luckily I found a fulltime job as a helper. and was able to contribute to our family's income. After three years I ran into a friend from high school and she mentioned the possibility of studying with a scholarship provided by ANAK. I took this opportunity and applied for a scholarship. When I was selected as one of ANAK's scholars I was so happy I cried.....
Well, now I can tell you that I am already 3rd year college! I really learnt to believe in myself and be confident, because it already got me this far!
Thank you for providing this opportunity!
